Designer Spotlight: Arden Wohl x Cri de Coeur

Julie Dicterow and Gina Ferraraccio, the designers and activists behind the popular vegan label Cri de Coeur, have teamed with New York designer/ artist Arden Wohl to create a new collection of vegan shoes for Spring/ Summer 2014. The inspiration? Late 19th century Symbolism. A movement championed by artists like Gustav Klimt, Edvard Munch, and Émile Bernard, Symbolism is the idea that art should represent absolute truths, such as an emotion or idea, which can only be described indirectly. For Cri de Coeur and Arden Wohl, this absolute truth is ethical consumerism, for which they seek to attract "a new ideal not by persuasion, but through artistic expression."

A Year in Review: A Few Memorable Moments of 2013

2013 was a great year for many reasons. From Beyonce and Jay-Z making "vegan" once again cool to the Youtube video of a compassionate little kid that went viral on the web, here I share my favorite moments of 2013.

The Liebster Award is a way for small bloggers (200 followers or less on bloglovin) to promote one another, attract attention to their blogs, and make friends in the blogging community. I love this idea (new friends and followers...I mean, who wouldn't?) and am so happy to have been nominated by Lulu's Sister.

I came to thinking today about some of the big names right now in pop culture--you know, the people I and countless others sometimes live our lives vicariously through on Instagram-- people like Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller, the notoriously "bad-gal ri ri" (Rihanna), supermodel Cara Delevingne, costume queen Lady Gaga...and I couldn't help but wonder, what is it that makes someone interesting enough to garner such cult-like followings? I mean, after all, people are just people and have you seen the number of Instagram accounts dedicated to Delevingne?

There is something about the sophistication of white that immediately draws me to it. Even though it is nearing the end of summer, I'm not ready to shed the bright whites from my wardrobe just yet. Who says white on white can't be a year-round look? Okay, maybe the preppy handbook, but isn't it true that once you know the rules, you can break them?
